If you have any news items or information you think we should be including in an upcoming e-newsletter, please send your suggestion to newsletters@mountroyaluc.ca
we will do our very best to put it on for you. A quick reminder that our Sunday Service is live streamed from the sanctuary beginning at 10:30 AM and can
also be watched later on the church website. The Prelude will begin at 10:15 AM with music and the announcement slides before the service begins
with Rev. Stuart.
The weekly bulletin will be available here.
This video will be produced and sent out weekly on Friday morning with all the important things from our faith community. We plan to keep them short so you have time to drink a cup of tea or coffee while you watch.
We hope you have a very good day today. Best Regards, Newsletter Committee
Message from the Chair of Council - Susan Fowler
Hi Everyone. I hope this finds you well.
Lent 2021 has arrived. Today I was telling someone that, although I don't ever really try very hard to give up something for Lent, I am going to try to cut out chocolate for 40 days. We'll see how that goes. Her response to me was that she had seen on Facebook that someone posted "Haven't I given up enough because of Covid?" So true. We have all given up so much. But maybe we have taken up some new habits as well. I must say that I make more of an effort to check in with some people that I haven't been able to see in person, have learned a few technology things and taken classes and attended webinars on virtual platforms. What is your Covid story?
This was a big week. Perseverance, an incredibly sophisticated rover built by NASA, successfully landed on Mars, many millions of kilometres from Earth. Did you think that would happen in your lifetime? It will search for microfossils in an ancient lake that existed 3.9 billion years ago. That's billion years ago. That is hard to wrap your head around. And Perseverance, what a perfectly named piece of equipment for what the past year has brought our way.
We close this week's announcements with a video featuring Bill Withers singing "Lean on Me”. Rev. Mullin spoke about that song when she led us in worship on Feb 7th. What amazing lyrics ...
Sometimes in our lives We all have pain We all have sorrow
But if we are wise We know that there's always tomorrow
Lean on me When you're not strong And I'll be your friend I'll help you carry on...
For it won't be long Till I'm gonna need somebody to lean on
Thanks for your continuing financial support. Even while very few gather in the sanctuary for church, our expenses continue.
Stay safe. As always, please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.
